Medicine message: The Stag, the Ash tree and the Return of the Light

Sometimes, life offers us moments so striking they demand deeper reflection. Recently, I found a dead stag washed ashore near one of the Ash trees I work with. in this post I share the deeper layers of this experience and invite you to join me in contemplating what it might mean for all of us during this powerful season.

On Facebook I told the story of finding a dead Stag washed up by one of the Ash trees I work with. This was a significant Medicine Message. You may want to read it in full here, if you haven’t already:

This Stag represents Rebirth

The Ash tree represents Yggdrasil. The world tree in Scandinavian mythology and the stag Elkthymir fed from the tree and the water that dripped from his antlers fed a well in the hell realms and created many great rivers. Though it varies in different versions of the myth - what is commonly recognised is that this stag represents Rebirth.

And the stag is dead … a powerful message to receive less than 3 weeks before Solstice and the return of the light!

What I didn’t mention in the Facebook post is that in the mythology the stag is from a dualistic world. The Stag feeds both realms with his emotions, (represented by the water here ).

What I feel may be happening is an opportunity for integration and a movement of the masculine (both our internal masculine and for those holding the polarity in our physical experience) from the duality into a Unity consciousness based experience. This isn’t necessarily easy, for it means confronting those internal traces we still hold of the distorted masculine energy that still resides in the ‘hell realms’.

And yet, it is a still time for optimism, so I feel this Solstice time will be especially powerful.

Do consider taking your Medicine Walk this week with those reflections. Or maybe you have something else closer to home to consider … either way, I would love to hear your experiences, here in the comments or through other communication.

With much Love
from my Heart to yours,

~ Tania Aurora White Crow ~
