Piercing the Green Veil with Lauren Lochrie

Lauren Lochrie is a plantswoman, land steward and foraging mentor. Offering support around land-led enhancements that work with nature and dis-covering the nature of yourself through collaboration with more-than-human intelligences.

Lauren is particularly interested in the medicinal side of plants and fungi as she finds much inspiration and wisdom comes from the plants themselves.

Here Lauren shares some stories from her journey of leaving employed work to work more closely with the plants she so dearly loves. Through her journey we also cover:

  • Land Stewarding

  • Exploring the nature of ourselves

  • When something needs to change

  • Getting on the ground

  • Sovereign Woman: becoming immanent, guided from within

  • Embodied intelligence

  • Meeting the non-human

  • Developing experiential relationships: moving away from the transactional approach, recognising tensions within self first, human to human connection and authentic experience.

  • Trusting our own senses

  • Getting inspired, multiplicity and ‘the one’

  • Intrinsic value of green

  • Land and food poverty

  • Separation from nature

  • Plant teachers and the unexpected

Lauren is the founder of Herbal Homestead, where she facilitates outdoor education and natural wellness working with the ethos ‘Enlivening People, Place & Planet’. Helping people to embrace the wonderment of life, re-kindling again, the joy we once had as children.

“We can be so detached from our own, outdoor 'living' spaces with no idea of what type of trees or plants we share these spaces with.”

By encouraging understanding of our local function as part of the greater ecosystem, Lauren enables people to attune with seasonal rhythms, feel empowered, and help build resilience by adopting creative and sustainable life choices.
