The Medicine of the Sedge Warbler
I’m building a Medicine Wheel. I marked out the Directions, then delineated the circle by cutting and lifting the turf around the edges. On Saturday evening ( 14th June 2026) I followed my guidance to light the fire in the centre and then move the fire out to the edges and through each of the Directions and back to the Centre again. When I work with the Medicine Wheel I move from the Centre to the North-East - the transitional, dreaming space inbetween endings and beginnings - and then to the East, South, West and North before retiring to the Centre through the North-East.
I’ve written much about the Sacred Medicine Wheel which you can explore on this Blog and my Website.
One continuous Fire - reigniting the Heart each time I moved it, only to move it again. I started at 6pm - when the Sun was still high, hot and bright, which the Fire mirrored - worked through the brief darkness until the first light started to stretch across the North East horizon about 2.30 am, when I started the return to the Centre.
I offered gifts to each Direction as I travelled though and each reciprocated with their Medicine - but it is the lone Sedge Warbler that started singing about 2am - accompanying me through the Dreaming of the North-East, back to the reflections of this journey in the Centre, the start of integratiing the Medicine - and beyond 3am, that I wish to talk about.
I moved with the Fire though the Sun, Twilight, Dusk, the returning Stars, through the Dew formation with the star white Moths, a sentinel Rowan tree and the Mushrooms who had been making their presence known to me all day … a 9 hour vigil … yet this tiny bird has flown across the Sahara to the Northern lands of Scotland - a journey that must be 10 times that -
whose sweet accompanying trill touched my heart like the crisp unfolding Dawn light.
Keeper of the Dreamscape, who never sings the same song twice. This was his Song to me:
“I herald the Dreamscape,
a reminder to keep breathing life into new expressions of being.
To expand beyond the expectation of limitations
The end of a long arduous journey,
one that inspires self-belief in own persistence, to try and keep on trying …
one that cleanses the soul of such sorrow that it returns to original innocence
- bringing clarity and emotional renewal for a new beginning.
This is a Rebirth,
a being stripped bare of all that is unessential to the core,
the essence of your being.
Then all that remains is to sing,
sing the joy of the Dreams that remain in your Heart”
May the Medicine of the Sedge Warbler accompany you in achieving your Dreams.
with Much Love,
from my Heart to yours,
Tania Aurora White Crow
