Croft Adventures: Species of Protection

I almost feel Darwinian saying this !

Since returning from my session with Brazilian Amazonian Pajé ( shaman) Maná Madhá for the opening of my soul voice, my awareness has been very much drawn to the amount of protector spirits I have here on the croft.

Yarrow: Stepping into Multidimentionality

When I first started to write this the Yarrow was flowering, the Blackberries ripening and it was time to gather Juniper from the shore where it grows down the cliffs … 

Yarrow is a well known protective ally used to counter black magic and psychic attack - though as a Sacred Earth Essence it supports the ascension process and stepping into multi-dimensionality. And the two are intricately interlinked, as I talk about in my writings and courses the more personal power we have developed from doing shadow work, the less efficacy non-beneficial have on us. Increasing our personal power this way increases the capacity for further embodiment of our multi-dimensionality.

Blackberry is a favourite of one of my totem birds the Wren. For the tangle of spiney stems is her terrain … one that she finds her way through with ease. The density protects her.

Now that’s curious symbolism - that the dense tangle she finds her way though as a guide towards the light also protects her.

She unravels and reweaves as she moves, it protects her because she may be within it, but she is not of it - symbolic of the biblical wisdom ‘to be in the world but not of the world’ - as she is either unseen or not considered a threat by that which potentially could harm her, it ends up inadvertently protecting her.

This is what happens when we tread lightly without resistance to what is. When we rail against something we reinforce those edges and our differences, when we lean into acceptance and curiosity we change form and flow. This may not change the nature of the other, but it does change the way we interact and the dynamic of the exchange of energies. This form of protection is dynamic, rather than static, in form and trusts in our ability to see those thorns and barbs as part of our everyday terrain and respond appropriately.

Like the Wren, the entanglements I find my way through are rewoven for my protection.

Juniper is a favourite of another totem animal of mine, the alert gentle Deer. I love the smooth oily texture of her fresh needles, that can also pierce skin. Soft yet strong and springy, Juniper is both sweet and a sharply astringent - she is Paradox full of vitality, a protector soft and gentle while strongly cocooning and powerfully purifying. Her berries grow to maturity over two years forming the potent stability of her medicine. Here she grows down the ancient Red Torridonian Sandstone cliffs out of the Deers reach. 

My relationship and understanding of Wasps has been increasing.

Wasp: A strong protectorate …

Another community came and joined mine in their honey pools … I have so much to say about my observations and developing relationship with them. Something that really touches my heart is that I’ve found when I’m elsewhere I seem to get approached by other Wasps - they come towards my third eye or forehead area touch it gently and then go on their way again … I must be carrying really strong Wasp energy with me at the moment!

And so I feel cocooned by layers of protection, not only as my soul voice is integrating as I’m accessing it but as the expansion and further dropping in of my channel. They are providing a cushioning, though it’s more than that … 

Holly: The magical evolution of a leaf …

The more I become absorbed in writing this the more species are showing me their protective qualities … Gorse with the power of a coiled snake, Rowan deeply rooted within the feminine power, Hawthorn emboldening the power of the Heart, Nettles restorative warmth, Hollys ability to hold thunder and so many fungi are talking to me about theirs … and I am starting to be initiated into the knowledge of the protective qualities of nurturance that plants and animals carry to care for what is precious.

And as the corresponding shifts occur within my own medicine, unfolding slowly and steadily I am excited for what is to come into fruition.
